Review: The Silent Patient

The Silent Patient The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I'll be honest, I started this book with hopes of it being a thriller, but much to my disappointment, I did not find it thrilling. Halfway into the book, I was still straining to feel any kind of breath-holding reaction, and some parts of it felt like beating around the bush. There were moments I'd be like, "Can we just get done with this?"

On a positive note, I found it immensely well-written, and it kept me hooked till the end. I finished it in one sitting. The climax was, without doubt, unpredictable. I had to pause for a while and leave myself to introspect and ponder upon the lines wholly.

Overall, it was a satisfying read. However, I would prefer to categorize it as a suspense novel rather than a thriller-or a psychological novel rather than a psychological thriller.
